Other ADHD-friendly cleaners
We want there to be more of us!
Other ADHD-friendly cleaners we've found
Wish you could hire us, but we're not in your area? There aren't many cleaners that are specifically advertised as accommodating for ADHD or other disabilities, but we hope that will change with time. Here's a list of people we've found who cater to ADHD or might be a good fit:
- ADHD Cleaning, a small company in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia
- Self Care Housekeeping is not ADHD-specific, but seems lovely and also offers meal service. Available in Allegheny County, PA and Detroit, MI
- The AHCA's Servant's Heart Programa> connects people in need with low-cost or free cleaning services. Available in much of the US, and Bradford, UK (near Leeds)
- Yorleny's Cleaning Service is not primarily geared toward ADHD, but include ADHD-oriented resources. Available across South Florida
I have not used, don't know, and can't personally vouch for these services, but they seem helpful, and we support their mission. If you offer ADHD/compassionate/flexible cleaning and would like to be added to this list, send us a message with some info about your business.
Finding a cleaner near you
If you haven't had luck finding help in your area, try looking for independent freelance or solo-run companies, as they're more likely to be flexible. Look for cleaners who advertise service that's compassionate, flexible, or includes decluttering/organizing. If you can find a local neighborhood forum, asking there is probably your best bet (see example from FB). Also try any ADHD-specific or disability-oriented group in your area, or a hobby/club that attracts ADHDers (crafts groups are a good bet).
These are educated guesses based on research, but we've never personally hired cleaners. If you have other ideas or something else works better, please let us know so we can update this page!
Becoming an ADHD Cleaner
If reading this site makes you think, "I want to do that!" we're happy to support you. You're welcome to borrow from our policies and values as much as you want, and we're happy to answer questions. We care about accommodation for our community more than we fear competition.
If you're local and want to work for us, sadly we don't have employees and can't hire you. We're set up as an LLC partnership, as this greatly reduces the paperwork and tax complexity, and we couldn't afford to offer reasonable benefits. But you're still welcome to reach out; we may be able to set up something like an apprenticeship so you can try it out without having to commit or invest much time/money.
